About Us

The first tournament was held at Siri Guru Singh Sabha Grounds in 1986 from 1987 till today, the sports festival of Can-Sikh Cultural Centre is organized at Wildwood Park Malton now called the Paul Coffee Park.

  • Can-Sikh sports festival is the only sports organized tournament, where almost all the games/sports are played.
  • Can-Sikh started inviting teams that played from other countries.
  •  For seniors especially playing card games is organized every year.

Can-Sikh Other Achievements

  • Preparation of food and collecting clothes for the homeless for four years every Sunday.
  • There is NO ENTRY FEE for fans of games instead free food is served to guests, spectators and participants for two days.
  • Timor for Kabaddi Raiders was introduced in the World Kabaddi Cup 2001 by Can-Sikh Centre.
  • Can-Sikh hosted two World Kabaddi Cups in 2001 and 2012 at Powerade Centre Brampton and Hershey Centre Mississauga.
  • Bhangra was introduced by one of the directors Mr Jagdish Singh Grewal.
  • Collection of loonie/tune is being done by the Guru Gobind Singh children’s foundation at the sports festival of Can-Sikh.
  • Fundraising for wheelchairs race introduced by the bhangra team of Can-Sikh captained by our director Mr Jagdish Singh Grewal.
  • Another fundraising was introduced for the hospitals called GuruNanak car
    Rally.
  • Sam Dhillon organized the Peel Police Kabaddi team as manager and Pammi and v.s Deol as coach of the team, which took part in our sports festival.
  • Can-Sikh board of Directors with hard work hosted a number of cultural shows during their 37 years period.
  • Can-Sikh has organized seminars for youth and seniors and has celebrated women’s Day.
  • Kuldip Singh Gill manages Peel Soccer Club with his friends for children it is a great asset to our festival.
  • Can-Sikh, with its hard work established a Sikh religious place (Gurudwara)
    In Brampton at Airport and Mayfield named Sikh Heritage Centre.
  • Can-Sikh has been participating in annual Sikh parades in Downtown Toronto and Malton and Redale Gurudwara’s parade for the last number of years.
  • We as a Board of Directors of the Can-Sikh Cultural Centre are very thankful to our sponsor participants, members and fans of games, without there support and encouragement we could never be successful.
